Acupuncture/Needling

This involves the insertion of sterile, very fine, disposable, one-use only needles into the skin. The sensation to expect is comfortable and akin to tingling, warmth or a dull ache. This is NOT the same as “dry-needling” performed by a physiotherapist or body worker.

Cupping

Glass or plastic cups are used to create a gentle vacuum seal on application to the skin. This stimulates blood flow over certain areas or points is often used for musculoskeletal pain or to prevent the onset of a cold.

Massage

Often used as a precursor to prepare the body for acupuncture or to relax the patient while the needles are left in. Lena is qualified in acupressure massage.

Moxabustion

Common amongst midwives to turn breech-position babies, moxa has a variety of healing properties. The main ingredient is mugwort and when burned, it creates a deeply penetrating warmth which is soothing and enjoyable.
