You can listen to Lena talk with Suzanne Maier about a range of acupuncture and TCM topics, including fertility, reproductive health and postpartum care on the MotherHeal podcast.

Lena is an empathic and experienced acupuncturist and has been treating a variety of conditions within clinics in Scotland and Northern England since 2004. She was a longterm practitioner at Edinburgh’s largest complementary health centre, Mulberry House, and has since left to set up her own home practice.

Initially studying Chemistry at The University of Edinburgh, she continued her studies with a degree in "Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture" at the NCA in York. She is British Born Chinese (BBC) and is keen to show how this evidence based medicine can treat both acute and chronic conditions.

Her passion for maintaining a healthy lifestyle led to teacher training in yoga and Lena has taught classes, workshops and retreats whilst incorporating TCM principles.

Her experiences in the acupuncture clinic treating women during pre-conception, pregnancy and postpartum motivated her to train as a doula with the Red Tent Doulas. She has since taught a course for birth workers at the Aberdeen Birth Collective in early 2024, showing how TCM can enhance the health of the birthing person and their family.

In 2022, Lena started Asian Herbal Medicine training with Dr Christine Cannon of the Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Resource Center in Montrose, Colorado. After almost 20 years of practice, Lena wished to optimise clinical results and felt that acupuncture alone had limitations. By combining it with herbal medicine, she is seeing better outcomes.

Currently, Lena’s dedication and curiosity has led her to undertake a 2 year course in Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine so that can continue to deepen her knowledge, improve her practitioner skills and enjoy good health in her own life.
